In the late 1970's, I was a VISTA for Portland West Neighborhood Planning Council, based in the People's Building. One project I enjoyed was setting up an art show in Reiche. I dug through tax photos of the streets and houses displaced by Reiche. I mounted the pictures on easels and they were lined up so viewers could "walk the streets in front of the houses"<br />I used some of these very photos.Dorothy Sullivanhttps://www.facebook.com/ReBag-by-Dorothy-246680042069426/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17769419.post-44607184886711590472013-07-13T16:58:33.734-04:002013-07-13T16:58:33.734-04:00I lived at 17 and 19 Bradford st in the 50s know t...I lived at 17 and 19 Bradford st in the 50s know the street very welldennis foggnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17769419.post-45113852483697038692011-02-15T11:35:35.469-05:002011-02-15T11:35:35.469-05:00Hello Gordon -- I would suggest you go straight to...Hello Gordon -- I would suggest you go straight to the source, and contact Abraham Schechter in the Portland Room at the Portland Public Library. :)Michelle Soulierehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02896807228114420113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17769419.post-67911053527198525292011-02-13T22:19:07.216-05:002011-02-13T22:19:07.216-05:00I lived at the corner of bradford and clark fron 1...I lived at the corner of bradford and clark fron 1960-1971 and need pics of the neighborhood GordonLisajeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01899734372195938346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17769419.post-33464120715237819482010-02-23T18:07:35.533-05:002010-02-23T18:07:35.533-05:00Michelle - I'm working on the 1924 project, sc...Michelle - I'm working on the 1924 project, scanning these pictures for the city... Are your photos from the assessor's office or do you have a secret stash?<BR/><BR/>I'd love some insight into Spring Street between High and Temple pre-urban renewal. No photographic record is readily available of that area, and I've been curious for years. I survived a similar apocolypse in Portmouth in my youth in the 1970's, which is why your work here resonates so strongly with me. Thanks again.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
