MAPLE MADNESS!!!

Just a reminder to any fellow maple maniacs out there -- SUNDAY, MARCH 26th is Maine Maple Syrup Sunday!!!

So empty your trunk, load your friends and/or family into the car, and visit one of Maine's many maple farms for demonstrations of maple syrup making, taste tests, and all sorts of other maple syrup shenanigans.

For a list of all the participating farms (and there are about a skazillion of them), go to http://www.mainefoodandfarms.com/visit/maine_maple_sunday.html where you can even search for farms within your county to make it easier to get there quicker. Mmmm... more time for maple! Gimme my pancake breakfast! Or even better, ployes...

Back in the fall of 2004 I discovered the decadent glories of Merrifield Farm's Smoked Maple Cheddar Cheese, at the Sugar House at the Cumberland County Fair (they're in Gorham). Then in the fall of 2005 I *really* lost my mind when I delved into the gooey wonderland of the Maple Whoopie Pie at the Oxford County Fair (or was it Fryeburg? It's all a blur!!!). Now I am a maple slave for life. There are little hard candy maple leafs in my bag at all times, and I live for the county fair season. Basically, for Michelle, a sugar house is kind of like a crack house. Mmm... sugar house...

Pssst... dude, can you hook me up with whoever made those incredible Maple Whoopie Pies? I swear I only need 10,000 of them. I'm not an addict - don't judge me!
